Ways to enjoy watermelon all year round
It’s time to choose the storage method that works best for you to keep your Sandía Fashion fresh:
Hielera
Blend it and pour the liquid into ice cube trays, so you can enjoy refreshing juices all year round.
Hanging
The ideal place to use this preservation method is in a cupboard or cellar. Start by finding a piece of natural fabric that will completely cover the watermelon; wrap it up tightly and place it in a linen bag or a net, then hang it from the ceiling using a hook. It is essential that the fruit does not come into contact with other objects or walls, so it is advisable to hang it in the middle of the room.
Ash
This method is ideal for those who have a stove or fireplace in their home. Place the dry ash in a box, completely covering the watermelon. This procedure will help us prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi.
Paja
For this method, you will need a wooden box; once you have the box, line the bottom with a thick layer of straw. Add more straw so that the fruit sits properly on all sides.
Water
It is important to use ice-cold water when using this method. To begin, find a barrel and fill it with ice-cold water until the watermelon is completely submerged; you can also place it in an ice pit. It is advisable to leave the fruit submerged in a cellar to ensure it keeps better.
Arena

Paraffin
Dip the watermelon in paraffin wax, then leave it to dry. Repeat the process as many times as necessary until a 1 cm layer has been achieved. Then leave the watermelon to dry completely and hang it up in a cool room.
Clay
This process will keep the watermelon free from damp and mould. Start by mixing the clay with water until you have a “paste”; then apply the paste to the watermelon until you have a layer approximately 0.5 cm thick. Next, leave the clay to dry and hang the watermelon in a cool, dark place.
Thanks to these storage methods, you can enjoy Sandía Fashion all year round… or for as long as your cravings allow!
