Ingredients for making watermelon sauce
- 1 cup of chopped, seedless watermelon – which is why our watermelon is the best choice for this recipe.
- ½ cup of white vinegar.
- ½ cup of sugar.
- 2 tablespoons of cornflour.
How to make the sauce
- Step 1: Place all the ingredients in a bowl, except for the cornflour, and blend them thoroughly.
- Step 2: Place the mixture in a saucepan and bring to the boil, then simmer for three minutes. Next, dissolve the cornflour in a little water and add it to the sauce, stirring constantly until it thickens. Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from the heat and leave it to cool.

- 1 cup of chopped red onion.
- 2 chopped jalapeños.
- 1 lime.
- Coriander to taste.
- 2 heaped tablespoons of mature cotija cheese.
- Salt to taste.
How to make this sauce, step by step
- Step 1: Cut two thick slices of watermelon. Place the watermelon on the grill and cook on both sides for three or four minutes. Once cooked, dice the watermelon slices and place them in a bowl.
- Step 2: Add the chopped jalapeño, onion and lemon juice to the bowl, and stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Step 3: In this step, we add salt and coriander to taste.
- Step 4: Pour the sauce into an empty watermelon half so that it retains more flavour.
- Step 5: Finally, we garnish the sauce with grated cheese.
